Hydrofood is a new food production company based in Ireland.
We grow fresh produce using hydroponic technology on a daily basis.
Sadly, we are currently in the midst of a pandemic which will leave a lasting mark on how we live our lives as a human species. Recent food runs and shortages have reminded us of how interdependent our supply chains are. Here in Ireland, our local horticulture production is greatly affected by seasonal changes in climate and most of our produce comes from overseas. We want to change that. Hydroponic technology has been tried, tested and proven, and is beginning to take off around the world. We want Ireland to be a pioneer of this food revolution.
Hydrofood intends to bring hydroponics to the mainstream in Ireland. We will reduce Ireland’s plant food imports, thus our carbon footprint, and grow sustainable food that is organic by definition. In turn, this will sustain our local economy and feed our growing population for years to come.
Our co-founders Lauren Davis and Jessica O'Leary began work on this project last year and in 2020 the team is finally ready to bring Hydrofood to the market as a fully operational business.
Lauren has a BA Hons in Business Studies from DBS and obtained her MSc in Food Business from Smurfit Business School in Dublin. Her background is in large food retail.
Jessica has a BSc from UCD in Biochemistry and went on to spend a year at SKEMA Business School, studying International Business Management in France and China.
